Yeharerwerk Gashaw, with the American and international press at the Dallas City Hall, where she declared her decision to run for president of Ethiopia in order to save and protect the unity of Ethiopia, from separatists rebel groups Tigre Liberation Front, Eritrea Liberation Front and Oromo Liberation Front. But Meles Zenawi (Legesse) the Tigre Liberation Front a rebel leader band Yeharerwerk from entering Ethiopia due to her popularity as Ethiopian unity patriot.

Yeharerwerk Gashaw, is the first Ethiopian that have declared and campaigned for presidency of Ethiopia against TPLF leader Meles and his political party. Her political party was known as "Ethiopian Women For Peace and Democracy" now "Ethiopian Unity People's Voice Congress Party" founded by Yeharerwerk, while she was in
her 20s on September 15, 1986 in Dallas, Texas.

In 2008, Yeharerwerk Gashaw found "Ethiopian National Government In Exile" which makes her the first woman In the world for forming an exile government out side her country. The exile government is a legally registered government U.S.A.
